Effects of pH Adjustment on the Release of Carbon Source of Particulate Organic Matter (POM) in Domestic Sewage

The use of anaerobic hydrolytic fermentation to develop more available carbon sources from domestic sewage influent particulate organic matter (POM) has received increasing attention. However, the slow hydrolysis rate POM limits application this technology. This study aimed improve source release efficiency by pH adjustment and reveal mechanism. Results showed that adjusting initial 3, 9, 11 enhanced in process POM. pretreatment under value contributed highest yield productivity source, reaching soluble chemical oxygen demand (SCOD) 2782 mg/L at 4th day. 3 was beneficial for phosphorus resource recovery, which concentration PO43−-P, 48.2 3rd day, accounting 90% TP. Microbial community structure analysis indicated preconditioning promoted enrichment proteolytic bacteria (Proteocatella Proteiniclasticum) polysaccharide (Trichococcus Acinetobacter) inhibited growth acetate-consuming methanogenic archaea, sewage.
